Have you wondered what those three flags designate? Green stands for prosperity, fertile land, hope
Yellow stands for faith, love and fraternity and red stands for lover of country, sacrifice and patriotism.
As a country it has been a symbol of freedom, for most African nations that were colonized by Europeans. You will see this manifested in the national flags of African Nations, where different versions, designs of the Ethiopian Flag, green, yellow and red used as a basis.

Amharic is one of the widely used languages in Ethiopia.  It has been the language of instruction in the country  for centuries. It has  unique alphabets.  It is only used in Ethiopia.  It originated from the  ancient Language of Geez.

Amharic has 33 alphabets including consonants and vowels.  It is unique in that by adding strokes at various locations on  the consonant, one create vowel effect. Some of the consonants like 

Ethiopia has its own numbering system which has been widely used in government, literature and in religion particularly in the Orthodox and Moslem faiths for thousands of years.  Like the Amharic language it is unlike any other world numbering system.

Ethiopian Calendar

Ethiopia has a unique calendar. It differs from the Gregorian calendar by 8 years, 8 months and 8 days.
Its new year falls in the month of September between September 9-11 depending on when leap year falls. It is now the year 2013.

Ethiopia is a country of 110 millions people who use more than 83 languages. There is a wide of areas to cover. There is history, music, religion, government, nature, music, cuisine and etc. The various ethnic groups have their unique cuisine, culture, satire, music, and its heroes and heroine. Ethiopia has withstood foreign aggression by many countries, including, Turkey, Egypt, Somali and Italy. Its citizens have never surrendered to foreign aggressors. Its citizens would form a united front to when foreign aggressors attacked its territory. As a country it has been a symbol of freedom, for most African nations that were colonized by Europeans.
Its history is written by both citizens and foreigners that came through religious missions, diplomatic and exploration. There is a lot of untold and unwritten history that needs to be passed on from generation to generation. Thus a center, for those who want to share and and benefit from this center
